Our Art and Design curriculum is designed to develop children's visual perception and the skills associated with investigating and making in art, craft and design. Children see through 'new eyes' by drawing and painting from close observation.
Children know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms. They have the opportunities to experience a broad and balanced range of art activities and show progression within these experiences
Children learn about art from different times and cultures and this provides them with an active involvement in art, craft and design.
We develop the children’s confidence as well as the skills and experience necessary to communicate their ideas through their artwork. They are encouraged to evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design.
The curriculum content has been designed to ensure that progression is clear and teaching is systematic, allowing children to build on and develop the desired knowledge and skills, as well as transfer key learning to their long term memory.
