'The principal aim of Religious Education is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.'
Bolton Agreed Syllabus
At Heathfield, we use the Bolton Agreed Syllabus alongside the Understanding Christianity documentation to ensure breadth and depth within our Religious Education curriculum.
Within Early Years, children explore a variety of celebrations and hold discussions about what is special to them and their friends. They gain understanding that not everybody celebrates the same festivals as them, and that different families have different beliefs and customs.
Through continuous provision, children will explore festivals including birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, Eid, Easter, Diwali, and any other celebrations that are important to our children and families.
In Key Stage One and Two, children explore different religions. The curriculum is strategically planned across each year group to ensure religions are revisited and prior learning is built upon.
