PSHE @HEATHFIELD

PSHE@HEATHFIED

At Heathfield Primary School, PSHE plays a vital role in developing the whole child. Through our PSHE curriculum, children are supported to grow in character, confidence and resilience, reflecting the Heathfield Heart, Heathfield gold standard and reinforcing our school values.

PSHE lessons help children to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to become happy, healthy and successful citizens, both now and in the future - Learning together, learning for life.  Our curriculum promotes British Values, including respect, tolerance, democracy, the rule of law and individual liberty, and ensures that children understand and value protected characteristics, helping them to celebrate diversity and treat others with kindness and respect.

Through PSHE, children learn how to:

  • Understand themselves and their place in the world

  • Build positive relationships

  • Make safe, healthy and responsible choices

  • Develop empathy, resilience and self-belief

  • Respect differences and challenge discrimination

Our PSHE curriculum is taught through six key themes:

  • Being Me in My World

  • Celebrating Differences

  • Dreams and Goals

  • Healthy Me

  • Relationships

  • Changing Me

  • Finance

These themes support children’s personal development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life, ensuring they leave Heathfield with the skills and values needed to thrive in modern Britain.
